Hello! I’m Karen Walker, a lifelong resident of Northern Lower Michigan dedicated to helping people preserve their family heritage through portraits and old family photos.
I have over 30 years of experience in photography and photo restoration. I’ve earned the titles of Master Photographer, Master Artist, Photographic Craftsman, and Certified Professional Photographer from Professional Photographers of America. I’m also the only photographer in Michigan who is an Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop.
My work has been recognized with numerous awards, including Diamond Artist of the Year and the PPA National Award, and I’ve taught advanced digital restoration techniques to fellow photographers.
I’ve served as president of Professional Photographers of Michigan, as well as my local arts council and chamber of commerce, and I take pride in maintaining the highest professional standards.
Your original photographs are precious, and I treat them with the utmost care. All restoration work is done exclusively on digital copies—the originals remain untouched.
Using a careful combination of digital retouching and artistic judgment, I strive to restore the memories captured in your photographs so they can be enjoyed for generations. My goal is to return each photo to its original condition, faithfully preserving its appearance.
Outside of restoration, I’m a part-time writer, recently completing a historical book on the East Jordan & Southern Railroad. I’m a retired portrait photographer and an active participant in my local historical society and arts organizations.
Restoring photos isn’t just a job for me—it’s a way to help people reconnect with their past, celebrate their loved ones, and preserve history one image at a time.
If you have old photographs that need care, I’d love to help you bring them back to life.
